The BIG "4-0"... Cookie style!

Ok, so it really wasn't a cake party but my daughter and I decided to play around and try something new for my birthday! As you can imagine, I get a little tired of the same old cake by the time my birthday rolls around. Something about having lots of cake through the holidays and doing them for parties makes me crave some variety! So, we decided to make a cookie cake. We actually made it "healthy" if that is even possible with Whole Wheat flour and Dark Chocolate Chips! It was actually pretty good and we were all surprised! So, we made the cookie cake, some white buttercream frosting and Chocolate buttercream frosting. My daughter decided to make a flower. However, she went a little crazy with the icing so it isn't easy to make it all out! She even added the little "40" just so that I didn't forget! Great, thanks... right? Then, I thought we were all done and she found some heart sprinkles and added those after I took the pictures. So, you'll just need to use your imagination with those! Here are a few pictures to see what we came out with:

Yes, she went crazy with the white icing but those are petals and a stem at the bottom. The center has the "40" upside down. Also, the "40" next to the stem on the left. Luckily, it doesn't jump out at me! Just kind of blends in nicely!

This is an up-close shot that my daughter took. I think she got a little icing on the lens and that is why it looks cloudy! She begged me for about 5 days (literally) to do this so I hope you enjoy reading about our experience. Maybe this will be something we try later on! I'll keep you posted!!

It's party time again with the Hay's family!!

The birthday girl had a cake party to celebrate! And brought a bunch of her closest friends (and American Girl dolls) to join the fun!! The party was at Local Color Cafe which is becoming a regular hang out for our cake parties! It is a great place to spread out and enjoy!! Take a look at some of the creations they came up with...

So serious! She is piping now!

Adding some last minute touches with candy! Who doesn't like a little extra sugar on their cake??

Adding some piping on the sides since the top is pretty much done!
Check out the finished products:

I think this is her 3rd cake as well! Looking great and still lovin' it!

This is the birthday girls 3rd time making a cake! She does a different theme and color scheme each time! They always look wonderful!

This is her 2nd time at a cake party! Looks great!!

Ok, so this is my child's cake (above) and she has done a few now. This one features a butterfly (small one) with a rainbow made of pipe cleaners in the background! Very colorful! She likes to go all out and use everything!

I believe this is her 2nd cake to design with us! Looks beautiful!!

Everyone had a great time and I would like to thank them for having us come out and entertain! They all did such a great job!! Happy birthday Abby!!

Ringing in the New Year.... Cake party for the Andrews family!

I was honored to be asked to come and give a cake party for an old friend of mine from high school. Her youngest daughter just celebrated her 8th birthday and was planning a party. Karie showed my facebook page to her daughter and asked her if she thought she might like to do this. She got really excited and said, "Yes!!" Karie said that her oldest daughter and husband watch the cake shows so they had some ideas of what was to come! We had a total of eight girls ready to create once we got there.... here is what it looked like:

Getting started with the fondant.

I love this concept! She started with the sides but couldn't think of anything for the top! It was so amazing to see what she came up with. She did an alien theme!! Aren't they the cutest aliens you have ever seen?

A caterpillar made with fondant and gumballs! It was adorable!

And here are the aliens... completed!

These girls did such an awesome job! I think they may be ready for their own show!! One time, it got so quiet you could hear a pin drop! They were busy concentrating on what they wanted to do with the fondant. They all came out amazing and I know their parents were happy to have some cake coming home! Happy Birthday Ella!!

December is not just for Santa.... Kids need to decorate some cake too!!

We hosted a birthday party for my 6 year old at Local Color Cafe in Springville. My daughter, along with about 15 of her closest friends had a blast decorating their cakes. She also had a Hello Kitty cake to share with everyone once they were done with their own cakes! Remember, all kids got to take their decorated cakes home with them! Yummy for the parents and siblings as well!! I guess everyone wins...

Having fun with the candy!

Hard at work piping!

Working over the fondant! This is also yummy to eat! Freshly made (no store bought...yuck!)

See, even the boys are enjoying!

Piping bags are not just for adults!

Working hard on her theme! She is always very color-coordinated!

Giving out dirt to go with those gummy worms! (Dirt is actually cookies pulverized to look like dirt)

Very intent!

Parents are even getting in on the fun!

Yummy sprinkles! The little 2 year olds got to put sprinkles on cupcakes! And yes, they loved it! It was a mess after the fact but it was worth it!

The birthday cake!! It was completely gone after it was cut!

Make a wish!

I literally made about 15 6-inch cakes, 24 cupcakes and a Hello Kitty Cake! Yes, a lot of work but it was for my daughter of course! This gives you an idea of how the party works! We rented out a space at Local Color Cafe because we had such a big party but we will travel to your house or where-ever you are having the party!
